rotations

Quality mentoring and constructive feedback are critical to your development as a lawyer. We have two separate rotations specifically designed to ensure that our students get practical, "hands-on" experience and regular feedback. As we only hire two articling students, students are guaranteed a meaningful and practical articling experience. In both rotations, you will participate in all aspects of running matrimonial and solicitor's negligence files, from initial client interviews to trials, to litigation strategy, to appeals, and everything in between.

Each student spends one rotation with our Senior Partner, Philip Epstein. During this rotation, articling students essentially assume the role of a "junior" lawyer, and are involved in all aspects of Mr. Epstein's day-to-day family law and solicitor's negligence practice, including initial client meetings, to court attendances at the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal and alternative dispute resolution sessions.

During the second rotation, you will be directly supervised by another senior member of the firm. This rotation is spent working with a number of our other senior partners and associates. Again, constructive feedback is offered on a regular basis. During this rotation, you will continue your practical and pragmatic involvement in the day-to-day management of Epstein Cole clients and files, including initial client interviews, client management, court attendances.

As well as ongoing informal evaluations and feedback from their supervising lawyers, articling students receive a formal evaluations at the end of each rotation.
